Transitional styled kitchens are often in-between specific styles, and infuse some hints of traditional, rustic, or contemporary elements. Most often times, a transitional kitchen design is a blend of “old and new”, where the homeowners are ready for a change or updated look, but still want to incorporate parts of their original style.

Because transitional design is open to interpretation, there are many kitchen designs that could fall into this category. Some transitional kitchens may have slightly raised cabinet doors, while others may have stained slab doors instead. Most often times, a shaker style door can be found in a transitional design. Different cabinet finishes and wood species can be incorporated into any transitional design.
